TRINIDAD NEWSDAY - By RESHMA BAAL - Synonymous with being the first when it comes to putting together innovative concepts for taking Indian culture to the masses, 103FM recently launched the 2011 chutney soca season, with its first ever Red Carpet Affair.
103FM, working together with Southtex Promotions, is a major sponsor, and the official radio station for the event.
The landmark event was held at the station’s studio located in Long Circular Mall from 2 pm to 10 pm, and it featured scores of industry stakeholders, including artistes, event promoters, tassa groups and dancers, such as Ravi B, Nisha B, Edward Ramdass, Neeshad Sultan, Adesh Samaroo, Tracy D, Vishal KI Persad, Blackie, Shakti Rampertap, Devika Ram, Kenneth Seepersad, Derryck Seales. Rick Ramoutar, Heeralal Rampertap, Vanessa Ramoutar, Sanjeevan Gayadeen, Hunter, O’Neal Bhajman, Rishi Singh, Devanand Gattoo, Sabrina Ragbir, Rajin Dhanraj, Kenneth Salick, Falco, Sally Sagram, Fareed Mohamed, Rishi Ram, Sudesh Jagroo, Soca Elvis, Rishi Mahatoo, Rooplal G, Roger Ramoutar, Neeshan Hitman Prabhu, Moses Charles, Aartie Butkoon, Kavita Maharaj and Drupatee Ramgoonai.
These local celebrities walked the “103FM Red Carpet” which led into the station’s studio, where they engaged in interactive sessions with both the 103FM announcers and listeners.
Several lucky listeners also won various hampers from the event’s sponsors. The overall atmosphere was reminiscent of a club, with eats, drinks and lots of good conversation.
