Ravi B defends crown from Position 2 Thursday, February 17 2011
TRINIDAD NEWSDAY -The 15 artistes who will be vying for the $2 million grand prize when the NLCB Chutney Soca Monarch finals scheduled for Saturday, pulled for performing positions yesterday.
Defending monarch Ravi Bissembhar (Ravi B) of the band Karma, will sing in position number two, while former monarch Rikki Jai will perform in position eight.
Veteran Drupatee Ramgoonai-Persad pulled position six.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism Winston “Gypsy” Peters are among the list of diginitaries expected to attend Saturday’s show at Skinner Park, which will feature a performance by Machel Montano HD.
When contacted, Ravi B said he felt fantastic about performing in this position. “Last year, when I won, I performed at this position. I am just enjoying the feeling right now. Everything is going according to plan and I am hoping for the best because two is apparently my lucky number,” he said. When asked about his plans for his performance on Saturday, he said, “That is left to be seen but I can guarantee it will be worth $2 million,” he said.
