Indian classical singer dies in NY Wednesday, March 30 2011
TRINIDAD EXPRESS - By Ariti Jankie South Bureau - Versatile Indian classical, bhajan and chutney singer, Sharm Yankaran, passed away on Tuesday in New York.
He was the son of the late legendary classical singer, Isaac Yankaran.
Sharm Yankaran suffered a heart attack and died at New Jersey Medical Hospital, New York, USA.
He was 60 years.
Sharm Yankaran grew up in Brickfield Village, Carapichaima and has five albums to his credit.
He migrated to the USA several years ago and has shared the stage with top classical singers. Brother of classical chutney singer, Rakesh Yankaran, he was the father of four.
