41 Grand Final Performances at Rienzi at Semi Final Stage Sunday, February 6 2011
Southex Events - The Semi Final round of the NLCB Chutney Soca Monarch drew one of the largest crowds over the last 5 years at the Rienzi Complex, Couva.
The 2011 Semi Final was the best in the history of the competition, not only by the high quality of the production but also by the quality of the performances that were delivered.
All 41 artistes delivered what could be considered ‘Grand Final’ productions in front of a packed Rienzi.
Only 15 artistes will move to the Grand Final stage, which is scheduled for Skinner Park on Saturday 19th February.
The 2 Million dollar first prize may have contributed to the high quality of the performances and the competitiveness of artistes in general; many of who publicly thanked Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar for the multi-million dollar incentive.
The women in the competition also showed that they were not giving up easily, as the top female entertainers treated patrons to sterling performances.
The show was broadcast ‘live’ on CNMG and voting started at 8pm on Saturday night for the BMobile Wildcard and is expected to end on Tuesday Midnight.
The results and the names of the chosen 14 plus the ‘wildcard’ will be announced on Wednesday morning via radio and TV.
